Court sentences trader to 1 year in prison for unlawful possession of firearm

A Chief  Magistrate Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old trader, Zakariah Markus, to one year imprisonment for illegal possession of locally made pistol and one round of cartridge.

The Magistrate, Roseline Baraje, however, gave him an option of N10,000 fine.

Baraje said that the judgment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such illegal act.\
